Almscliffe Crag at Dawn

December 21, 2011

Shot at 4 o’clock in the morning.  Stars are seen as moving trails of light due to long shutter speeds.  Part of a body of work of local landmarks photographed at night.

Almscliffe Crag is a Millstone Grit outcrop at the top of a small hill near the village of North Rigton, between Leeds and Harrogate in West Yorkshire, England. The crag was formed due to the softer adjacent strata of shale and mudstone eroding at a faster rate than the hard wearing millstone.

A press /PR shoot for Cicada Communications the Harrogate-based agency has been chosen to support the York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) in its PR and marketing activities.  The effects were added in post production in Photogshop CS5.

The newly formed LEP, which covers an area from Skipton to Scarborough and Northallerton to Selby, will provide business support across the region following the demise of Business Link. Cicada will support the communications team as the LEP builds its profile in the region and helps to strengthen its links with business organisations.

Images from a very wet Brecon.

Exercise Cambrian Patrol is an annual patrolling competition that takes place throughout the Cambrian Mountains of mid-Wales. An internationally recognized military exercise, previous participants have included numerous European states, in addition to Commonwealth countries and the United States.

Cambrian Patrol was first set up more than 40 years ago, by a group of Welsh Territorial Army soldiers who designed the training event to feature long distance marching over the Cambrian Mountains and which culminated in a shooting match on the Sennybridge training area. Since then, the exercise has been rigorously updated to meet the challenges faced by modern soldiers.

Police Photography

September 21, 2011

The Offices of the Law.  A dusk picture taken during the 1940′s weekend in Whitby.  The subjects were lit by 3 flash heads.  The police sign was added later shot at Salts Mill in Shipley and “compt-in” using Photoshop.

A simple business photograph to launch a new venture.  A rare blue sky, I added the cloud to balance the picture.

“Just wanted to drop you a line to say that I received the disk from the HFT shoot on Friday and the images look fantastic. My colleagues were really impressed too. Thanks so much. I was really pleased with how many different contexts we managed to capture and think you did an excellent job at making the participants feel at ease and understanding SCIE’s requirements.”
